Raven Hill Farm is a small farm run by the Bahnemann/Evans Family in the heart of Central Vermont. We raise Berkshire pigs, Kiko goats and produce maple syrup at a human-scale. Through our efforts, we strive to build a self-sustaining farm that preserves old traditions, honors and regenerates the land and provides quality meat to our community. We farm with our kids, our friends, family and neighbors in the long tradition of small-scale diversified farming that built Vermont.
Our products are available through a "share" program, at local stores and restaurants and online through our Farm Store.

We make maple syrup with our neighbors @anchorlightfarm in the traditional way. Isn’t all maple syrup “traditional” you might ask? No it is not. Many sugarmakers use plastic tubing strung between trees in the woods to bring the sap to them. We use buckets hung on each tree in the traditional fashion. Many sugarmakers use a system of vacuum pumps to suck the sap out of the trees. We use a team of Belgian draft horses to gather sap from the buckets. Many sugarmakers use a machine to concentrate the sugar in their sap before they start boiling it, reducing its “cooking time” (like microwaving a steak before you grill it). We give our sap its full boiling time to make sure it develops its most sophisticated flavor profile in the syrup pan, where it belongs. Look, we’re not claiming this is the world’s greatest maple syrup. But if you want a taste of the past, if you want to know what the syrup our grandparents were making tasted like, this is the stuff for you. That’s why we call it “traditional”. - - - -
